Money Minefield Launched
6th October 2009
The Money Minefield board game was launched at St Margaret's Academy on 25th September. Money Minefield is a resource that has been developed in partnership by ABE and West Lothian Credit Union Forum and has been a firm favourite in the DOSH course.
Funding was gained to professionally produce 100 copies of the game to be distributed to schools and community groups across West Lothian in order to get people talking about money management.
The project had the support of Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Fiona Hyslop who attended the launch.
Ms Hyslop said "We all need to be able to understand how to manage the money we have, learn how we can maximise our income where required and know when and how to get advice and support if needed.
"Money Minefield will support the work already underway in our schools and through the work of organisations such as West Lothian Council's Adult Basic Education service and the West Lothian Credit Union Forum to improve financial education and help people of all ages to learn how to improve their money management in a fun but effective way."
Workshops for workers who want to learn how to use the game are now underway. To find out about dates and venues for future workshops, contact Janice Davidson Janice.davidson@westlothian.gov.uk
